PROUD DAD…
Look, I’m a real estate broker and the entire purpose behind blogging is to promote my business, the beauty of North Lake Tahoe and the lifestyle it affords. So bear with me while a brag about about my youngest child.
Daughter Mary Ann (aka “Annie”) graduated from Chico State University in May with a degree in Public Health and she immediately applied to the Peace Corps. She said she needed a challenge in her life and wanted to make a difference–even if it was a tiny difference–in the world. After months of waiting, she received word in late December that she had been accepted and will work in Guyana (likely in an AIDS clinic). For those of you who don’t know (I didn’t), Guyana is located in the north-east corner of South America and is bordered by Brazil on the south, Venezula on the west, and Suriname and the Carribean on the east.
Anyway, the little red head landed in Guyana on Saturday (2-6) and will go through a 2 month orientation at which time she will receive her assignmentwhile.
I look back at when I was her age (22) and there’s no way on God’s green earth I would have taken on such a challenge.
So, even thought she has a 26 month commitment to the Peace Corps and I’ll miss her terribly, I’m very proud of her for taking this on. GO ANNIE.
