WELL, IT FINALLY HAPPENED….

After MANY years of discussion, negotiation, planning and design, the KINGS BEACH CORE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT is moving forward.  Last Wednesday, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) voted UNANAMOUSLY to approve the project which will revitalize a 1.1 mile section of State Route 28 (aka North Lake Blvd.) through the heart of Kings Beach.

The project will change the highway from a four-lane thoroughfare with traffic signals to a three-lane roadway with roundabouts.  The plan will help make Kings Beach into a “livable, walkable community” with sidewalks, street lamps and bike lanes.

The balance of this year will be devoted to finalizing design, Right Of Way acquisition and permitting with construction to commence in 2011.  The project should be completed by year-end 2013.

Can’t tell you how stoked I am about the project moving forward.  Kings Beach has been a diamond in the rough as long as I’ve lived here and now it’s time for it to shine.
